2O21 "but for" Leadership Florida Award Recipient:  Sheriff Dennis Lemma

Sheriff Lemma created an initiative, S.C.O.R.E. in Seminole County which is an acronym for Seminole Collaborative Opioid Response Efforts.  The primary goal of S.C.O.R.E. is to save lives by combating the Opioid Epidemic through a collaborative initiative.  This initiative was inspired after conversations with his Classmate in Cornerstone Class 36, Dr. Teresa Rawe from Calusa.  Sheriff Lemma was so moved by the work Manatee County was doing to combat the opioid crisis that he wanted to replicate it in his county.  The connection between Dr. Rawe and Sheriff Lemma is an example of a true “but for” opportunity to tackle big issues in our state.
