Biography
In 2014, Carlton launched the JAX Bridges entrepreneurial education program that has since served over 3,500 business owners. Other leadership positions in small business include StartUp Quest/University of Florida, Lean Startup Week, and Startup Weekend.
In his JAX USA capacity, Carlton is responsible for research, strategy, and implementation of small business initiatives that assist the JAX Chamber in promoting regional economic growth from within. He is certified by the National Center for Economic Gardening. He co-authored the case study Northeast Florida’s Economic Gardening Experiment - JAX Bridges to Open Innovation in North Florida, which won the Best Paper Award at the 2021 Society for Advancement of Management International Business Conference.
Carlton earned his B.S. in management information systems from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a dual masters degree in corporate innovation and community & economic development from Penn State. He also earned a DBA from Argosy University.
