Biography
Erika's greatest passion is providing a high-quality education to all students in Florida. She serves as the Engagement Manager for the New Worlds Reading Initiative and is committed to providing students throughout the state with free literacy resources at home to build their confidence and competence in reading. She is a lifelong educator, having spent nine years as a classroom teacher in Title I schools where she was devoted to closing student achievement gaps. Erika decided to join the Florida Department of Education to expand her impact beyond the classroom by focusing on projects and initiatives dedicated to the recruitment, development and recognition of Florida educators, including the Florida Teacher LEAD Network, High Impact Teacher Corps and the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation. She has earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Management, Master of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Education in Educational Leadership. During her free time, Erika enjoys traveling with her husband, family and friends. She is also a dog lover and relishes time playing with her two hounds.
