Biography
Matt is a lifelong Florida resident, born and raised in Tampa. In his current role, he serves as the General Manager, IT for Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS). Most recently, he served as the Director, Virtual Instruction Programs supporting 20,000 students through HCPS. He has also been an elementary principal, assistant principal, and middle school and elementary classroom teacher during his tenure at HCPS. While serving as a principal, he led a multi-year technology implementation initiative, which led his site to become one of 39 Microsoft Showcase Schools in the U.S.
He earned his B.A. in criminology, M.S. in educational leadership and his Ed.D. in program development with an emphasis in educational innovation from USF.
Matt met his wife, Ashley, in elementary school and they were married in 2013. They have two boys, Hunter and Nolan, and 11 animals (two dogs, two cats, one tortoise, and six chickens). He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and cheering on the Bucs, Rays and Lightning.
