Biography
A lifelong Floridian, Mel has nearly 20 years of experience in the fields of special education and professional learning development and facilitation. Her career in education has spanned throughout Florida, including Hillsborough County, Polk County and now with Sarasota County Schools. She serves as the FDLRS Suncoast project manager, where she ensures high-quality professional and family services are provided to educators and families of students with disabilities throughout her region. Prior to beginning her journey in education, she spent time working with the American Cancer Society.

She earned her B.S. in health administration from UCF and her master’s in education leadership from St. Leo University.

In addition to her work throughout the state, she enjoys mentoring and coaching others as a proud Women on the Rise, Orlando, Mentor. Mel finds balance by spending time with friends and family and new life experiences. She is a proud wife and mother of two children.
