Biography
Pilar serves as principal at Mater Gardens Academy, a “A” rated and top thirty-five state ranked charter school in Miami-Dade, where she collaborates with students, families, staff, and the community stakeholders to set high expectations for learning and cultivate positive learning experiences. In addition, she is a professor at Doral College’s School of Education. She has also participated in Cognia accreditation panel, treasurer for Alpha Delta Kappa, charter school grant application team, co-authored education courses at St. Thomas University, and presented at the Florida Charter School Conference. She is a member of the town’s Youth Activities Task Force to help empower the local youth to lead events for children.
Pilar earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Barry University, Master’s in Secondary Social Studies Education from Florida International University, Specialist’s in Educational Leadership and Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
She and her husband Tony live in Miami Lakes with their French bulldog Petunia. They both enjoy traveling to new cities and engaging in random adventures, such as working in a cranberry bog!
