Biography
Tom is a 36-year resident of the State of Florida and has served in a variety of leadership roles at Florida Gulf Coast University since 1998. He is passionate about the field of education and is dedicated to restoring respect to the profession of teaching, teacher recruitment, and teacher retention—particularly in the State of Florida. He previously served at the University of Florida, Florida Atlantic University, and Palm Beach County government.
Tom is an accomplished scholar and leader. He has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations and served on nine different Boards of Directors ranging from local to international organizations. He is actively engaged in a wide range of service activities professionally and within the community. He currently serves as FGCU’s faculty athletics representative and has served several local public schools as School Advisory Board chair (and member), parent-teacher organizations, and booster clubs.
