Biography
Vincent Taylor, the 2025 Vystar Duval Teacher of the Year, has devoted 28 years of service to the discipline of teaching and learning. Graduating with a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction from University of Florida, Vincent’s passion for education goes well beyond academics; he also values the social and emotional impact teachers have in the lives of students. As a result, he founded a school-based mentoring program in 1998 called the Young Gentlemen’s Group which he still runs today. Vincent’s affinity for the teaching profession led him to writing “If Instruction Isn’t Engaging, I Quit,” a professional development book for teachers. This love has evolved into an educational documentary that he is currently producing which focuses on student engagement. Vincent travels the country facilitating staff development to educators, helping them enhance their professional growth. He is the author of 14 books which include the highly popular children’s book series Cornbread. Vincent enjoys serving as a Board member for ReadUSA as well as Jacksonville Public Education Fun. This father of two is married and enjoys songwriting, karate, and roller skating in his leisure time.
