Biography
Wayne is the CEO and founder of Southern Standard Construction in Tallahassee. Prior to launching SSC, he served in various roles including project management, business development, and corporate leadership for other commercial construction management companies. Growing up, he wanted to be an architect, and ultimately found his passion in commercial building. He is called to serve his team, his clients, and the communities in which they work. Wayne was appointed to the Florida Construction Industry Licensing Board by the Governor in 2024.
Although Wayne is a sixth-generation Floridian, his parents’ work took his family all over the world: five years in Chiapas, Mexico, one year in Peseux, Switzerland, and the rest in Cameroon, Africa, until high school when they moved to Dallas, Texas. The worldview he developed as a child is the core of who he is.
Wayne studied architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington. He is married to Heather, a rock star mom and wife, who still finds the energy to serve the FSU Office of the President as deputy chief of staff. He has three children - Easton, Ashley and Audrey. His mother is from Havana, Florida, his father is from Tallahassee, and he has one sister.
