Biography
West is an accomplished marketing professional with a diverse background in global advertising and PR. He began his career at DDB Paris, where he mastered the art of navigating spirited debates with the French. He later held leadership positions at global agencies including Grey, DDB London, and Arnold/Havas. Along the way, he raced go-karts against Formula 1 champions and sipped Tennessee whiskey with Chinese focus groups.
West became President and CEO of On Ideas in 2015. His leadership style encourages open discussions and embraces diverse perspectives, allowing a wide range of voices to contribute ideas and facilitate professional development. In addition to offering traditional branding, PR, and digital marketing services, the agency has expanded to offer hospitality guest experience consultancy, change-management consulting, and digital content production. This expansion has enabled the agency to extend its client base into eight new categories in the last year.
West is a dedicated champion of non-profit organizations and amplifies the voices of those who need it most. West’s commitment extends to serving on the board of Hubbard House domestic violence shelter. He volunteers and provides pro bono services to numerous organizations, such as All Faiths Food Bank, Don’t Miss A Beat, United Way of Northeast Florida, the Community Foundation for Northeast Florida’s Women’s Giving Alliance, and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Three years ago, West made it an organizational goal to dedicate 5% of annual agency time toward nonprofit endeavors.
With a Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Business Administration from UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, West self-describes as "true blue."
If he were commander-in-chief for a day, West would mandate a daily siesta.
FUN FACT: From his office window every morning around 9:45 am, West revels in watching bottlenose dolphins swim in the St. Johns River. He claims that he can set his watch by them.
