Leadership Florida - Calusa Region - A Day at Fox Lea Farms

Come enjoy the outdoors with your Calusa friends in a special combination "but for Leadership Florida" day and "Learn and Lead" event. You'll spend the day learning about the economic impact of family-owned and operated Fox Lea Farms, a 46-acre horse show facility in South Sarasota County operated by three generations of family for 40 years. Fox Lea hosts events 42 weekends per year with multiple show rings, barns, and infrastructure to support horse shows. You'll also get a tour of the facility and learn about horse shows and jumping. This event includes a reserved front-row seat under their new pavilion for a horse show while enjoying a gourmet lunch, beer, and wine from a local restaurant. 

Calusa member Emily Walsh (Cornerstone Class 34) will be our featured "Learn and Lead" speaker at the event. Emily is the publisher of the Observer Media Group (OMG) and a third-generation newspaper executive. Her father Matt, founder of OMG, is a member of Cornerstone Class 10, and her grandfather, David Beliles, was also in the newspaper business. Emily will discuss running a 'legacy' print media company in a digital age, the challenges and successes of taking over a family business, how she leads and maintains a strong and positive company culture, her greatest leadership lessons, and how she handles the demands of leadership. 

You can stay as long as you want after the event to watch the horse show. Dress is casual, and closed-toe shoes comfortable for walking are recommended. When you arrive, you should enter at Gate B. It is a short walk to the pavilion; golf cart shuttles will be available.
