Maria Hernandez is a highly accomplished senior executive in the nonprofit sector, with a distinguished track record in the design and management of human services programs and clinical interventions across health, behavioral health, education, prosperity, homelessness, and emergency services in both New York and Florida. As a recognized thought leader, Maria brings extensive expertise to the field, consistently driving impactful community initiatives, forging strategic partnerships, and overseeing the successful administration of multimillion-dollar funding from both public and private sources.

With a reputation for visionary leadership, Maria excels in leading cross-functional teams to achieve transformative outcomes. Her ability to innovate, foster collaboration, and inspire excellence has earned her respect across the industry. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to advancing social change, building robust community partnerships, and ensuring the sustainability of key programs and services.

Maria has served as Chief Impact Officer for United Way of Broward County, where she is responsible for the operations of critical community investments, including the Community Impact Department, the Commission on Behavioral Health and Drug Prevention, Mission United, and Emergency Response efforts. She also leads the organization’s Government Relations and public policy initiatives, positioning the agency as a key driver in addressing the region's most pressing challenges.

Maria serves on several prestigious boards, including the Homeless Coordinating Council of Broward, Funders Together to End Homelessness National Network, and the Early Learning Coalition of Broward County. Additionally, she is the vice-chair of Broward Health, Health Point, and Member of the Governance Committee of Broward Health and Memorial Health System's Better Together Initiative. She co-chairs the Greater Fort Lauderdale Leadership Exploratory Trip.
