Biography
Sowell served as Florida’s secretary of commerce and CEO of Enterprise Florida from the beginning of the DeSantis administration and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to joining the DeSantis Administration, Sowell was Chief of Staff for Port Tampa Bay, Florida’s largest port by acreage and a key economic engine in the Tampa Bay region. He now serves as president of the Business Solutions Practice at Indelible, a national management consulting firm providing advisory services to public and private sector organizations. Sowell is a sixth-generation Floridian whose grandfather fought in World War II, father served in Vietnam, and brother deployed to Iraq where he became disabled. Sowell is a Pat Tillman Scholar and a Marine Corps Veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan.
