Palm Beach, Fla August 29, 2017 – Beth Kigel, president and CEO of Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, was installed by Leadership Florida as its chair for the 2017-2018 year at the organization’s annual conference in Palm Beach on July 2. Kigel is a graduate of Leadership Florida Cornerstone’s Class XXIX and has co-chaired the Leadership Florida produced debates for U.S. Senate and Florida Governor, since 2012. "We are so blessed to have Beth Kigel as Leadership Florida's new chair,” said Wendy Spencer, president and CEO of Leadership Florida. “She cares deeply about Florida as evident by her professional and personal leadership roles she holds throughout the state. I look forward to working with Beth to ensure a smashing year of success for Leadership Florida!"

Since 1982, Leadership Florida, a respected non-partisan convener, has taken the lead in Florida for training and developing leaders with a statewide, rather than parochial, view of our state’s resources and needs. The organization produces educational programming for a wide spectrum of Florida’s leaders, including chief executive officers new to the state, seasoned business and non-profit executives, elected officials, young professionals, leaders in Florida K-12 education, and top college and university students. Its members are diverse in opinion, age, gender, geography, skills, interests, experience, ethnicity, occupation, and political affiliation, but unified in their respect for one another, and in their commitment to building a better state for all our citizens. Additionally, Leadership Florida, in partnership with the Florida Press Association, has produced 10 statewide televised political debates since 2006.

“I’m honored to be elected as chair and to give back to an organization that has done so much for Florida as it unifies our state leaders and addresses our most pressing issues,” said Kigel. “I look forward to working with each of our Regional Councils and the Board of Directors this year as we engage our members and communities in creating a better Florida.”

Beth Kigel was appointed by Governor Scott to the Florida Transportation Commission in January 2012 and was subsequently reappointed and confirmed by the Florida Senate in 2016. Her public service also includes the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Commission, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, the Palm Beach County Groundwater and Natural Resources Protection Board, and the Roger Dean Stadium Advisory Board. Beth has served as a Trustee and Board Member of area Chambers of Commerce, an Executive Committee member of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County, and the 2012 Chair of the William T. Dwyer Awards for Excellence in Education. In 2015, Beth was named to the Leadership Florida Board of Directors, and appointed to The World Congress on Intelligent Transportation Systems Board of Directors.
