Leadership Florida and Volunteer Florida Announce #BringABook for 2017 Annual Meeting

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Leadership Florida and Volunteer Florida announced today that they will host the second annual #BringABook service initiative in conjunction with Leadership Florida’s 2017 Annual Meeting at The Breakers in Palm Beach. The book drive will benefit the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County and the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.

“Volunteer Florida is proud to partner with Leadership Florida to host a #BringABook service initiative at the 2017 Annual Meeting,” said Chester Spellman, Volunteer Florida CEO. “This partnership is a wonderful example of leaders from across the state working together to support literacy and student success.”

Volunteer Florida and Leadership Florida are asking those attending the 2017 Annual Meeting to bring new or gently-used books for elementary school students. Volunteer Florida and Leadership Florida will collect books at the 2017 Annual Meeting registration area on Thursday, June 29, 2017, through Saturday, July 1, 2017. Volunteer Florida partners will distribute the books to students in low-income schools in the region. Students will get to take a book home to begin their very own library.

“Leadership Florida values education, and the #BringABook service initiative is one of the many ways our members work to ensure Florida students achieve their highest potential,” said Wendy Spencer, president of Leadership Florida. “We are excited to partner with Volunteer Florida to donate books to the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County and the Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County.”
