LEADERSHIP FLORIDA BOARD CHAIR KAM PATTON PRESENTS KATHLEEN PASSIDOMO WITH THE 2023 CHAIR’S AWARD

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Leadership Florida Board Chair Kam Patton presented Senate President Kathleen Passidomo with the 2023 Chair’s Award at its Annual Meeting in Boca Raton this past weekend.

The Chair’s Award is presented by the Leadership Florida board chair each year to a member for their unique contribution to the mission and vision of the organization or for the advancement of Florida.

“Kathleen Passidomo has made a lifetime commitment to Florida, and her impact can be felt across the state, by every age and demographic,” said Leadership Florida Board Chair Kam Patton. “The quality of life in Florida is greater as a result, and her legacy will be felt for generations to come.”

Passidomo’s service to the community began long before she joined the legislature. She used her background and legal skills to help nearly 100 civic, charitable and business organizations with their corporate documents and governance structure. She created the Collier County Juvenile Justice Council and served as co-chair of the Education Foundation Community Engagement Initiative “Connect Now.” She was also president of the Southwest Florida Land Preservation Trust and board chair of the United Way of Collier County.

Passidomo has demonstrated leadership in her law profession as well. She was in the first group of attorneys in the state to obtain board certification in real estate law. She was elected by her peers to serve as president of both the Collier County Bar Association and the Collier County Women’s Bar Association. She has been recognized as Attorney of the Year by both the Florida Law Related Education Association and the Collier County Women’s Bar Association. She is also the recipient of the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award.

“A key component of Leadership Florida is the ability for our members to build their personal and professional networks in order to make positive impacts in our state,” said Wendy Spencer, president and CEO of Leadership Florida. “Senate President Passidomo continuously works to make Florida a better place for all its citizens. We could not be prouder to have her as this year’s recipient of the Chair’s Award.”

Passidomo is a graduate of Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone Class 12. She served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 – 2016 before being elected to the Florida Senate in 2016 where she has served since, representing District 28. Currently, she is the 90th president of the Florida Senate, and only the third female to hold that position.
