LEADERSHIP FLORIDA PRESENTS 4R FOUNDATION WITH THE 2023 FLORIDA IMPACT AWARD

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Leadership Florida presented the 4R Foundation with its 2023 Florida Impact Award at its Annual Meeting in Boca Raton this past weekend.

The Florida Impact Award recognizes a business or nonprofit organization that has created a specific project or body of work whose impact is currently transforming the future of its region or beyond and has the potential to transform Florida as a whole.

“We are honored to recognize the outstanding work being done by the 4R Foundation and its 4Roots program,” said Wendy Spencer, president and CEO of Leadership Florida. “Their work is making a significant impact on the lives of everyone they work with as well as their community as a whole.”

The 4Roots program, which broke ground in the fall of 2021, aims to improve the overall health of the Central Florida community by advancing food and farming education, health and wellness, sustainability, economic opportunity and the arts.

“John Rivers’ experiences as a successful restauranteur have enabled him to use The 4R Foundation to shine a light on the prevalent food insecurity problem in Central Florida,” said Glenn Adams, a graduate of Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone Class 35 and lifetime member, who nominated them for the award. “The programs offered by the 4R Foundation, including the 4Roots Farm Campus, are a model that could be upscaled to benefit underserved communities throughout Florida.”

As of November 2022, 4Roots has distributed more than 2 million meals and 1 million pounds of fresh Florida produce to those most in need since the program’s inception in March 2020.
